My First YouTube Video!

Hi everyone! I’m very excited to say that I have started YouTube! After thinking about it for a long time I finally decided to take the plunge and have uploaded my first video.

The video is a review of Kylie Cosmetics – I have recently written about the lip kits on here, but the video includes lip swatches and has more detail on shipping and customs for those of you who are interested! Here it is:

Please bear with me as my editing and filming isn’t exactly how I would like it to be yet, I am still getting the hang of everything and hoping with some practice that I will improve over the next few videos!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette – Swatches and First Impressions!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well. Today I received the new Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette that I ordered from Sephora, so I wanted to show you guys the palette and swatches with my first impressions of the product.

The palette itself is beautiful, a lilac velvet with white and gold lettering. It’s very pretty packaging and also very simple, with a magnetic closure.

thumb_IMG_0501_1024

The palette contains 14 shadows and a dual-ended brush – I have had one of these brushes in another ABH palette and they’re really good to add to your collection, they’re very soft and apply and blend shadows well. One end is a fluffy blending brush and the other is a more precise brush, for applying shadow on the lid or blending underneath the eyes.

The shadows are pretty much all very warm-toned, which I love as I don’t own a palette with a lot of warm shades all in one place. There are a lot of pink, orange and red-toned shadows, so it will be really easy to match together shadows to create lots of different looks. The palette contains a lot of shades that are perfect for summer and there is a mixture of mattes and shimmers, so this palette has the perfect mixture of different shadows and the included brush makes it travel-friendly, too.

thumb_IMG_0503_1024

Now for the most exciting part – the swatches! All of the shades were easy to swatch and have a lovely, pigmented formula. Here are the two rows swatched separately with each shade labelled:

Top row:

IMG_3269

Bottom row:

IMG_3270

As you can see, the shades are all lovely and the pigmentation of each shadow really shows up in the swatches. I love the shimmery shades, Primavera and Vermeer, and the bottom row is my favourite – the shades are all so beautiful and I love the range of rich, orangey-red tones. My favourite shadows are Burnt Orange, Red Ochre, Venetian Red and Primavera and all shadows seem to have excellent pigmentation – I can’t find one shadow that doesn’t live up to the rest in terms of formula and colour pay-off.

I haven’t used the shadows to create an eye look yet, but will definitely be trying them out so keep a look out for another post soon! I can’t wait to try a few different looks out and have high hopes from the swatches, as they all seem very soft and easy to blend. I’m so pleased that I decided to buy this palette and think it is an excellent addition to the collection of any beauty lover!

Did you pick up the Modern Renaissance? Let me know your thoughts below!

Kylie Lip Kits First Impressions + Swatches! Koko K & Dead of Knight!

Hi everyone! As I’m sure you will all know, Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kits have been taking the world by storm the last few months and after debating whether to purchase some of my own, I finally went for it!

Firstly, a little bit about shipping and  customs – feel free to skip this paragraph if you just want to hear about the products themselves! Being in the UK, I was aware of potential customs fees which is why I took a while to decide whether I wanted to buy the lip kits, as although they are fairly affordable on their own, it can end up being pretty expensive with customs and shipping added on top. However, I ended up being really lucky and not getting any customs charges on top of the $14.95 shipping fee I paid! I have heard some orders end up being charged by customs and some do not, so this is something to just be aware of when ordering if you are outside of the US.

Anyway, onto the exciting part – the actual lip kits! I went for two shades – Koko K and the brand new shade Dead of Knight. The lip kits are $29 each which is around £21 – I think this is a pretty good price for a lipstick and a lip liner. My confirmation email said to expect a delivery within 10-15 business days and mine arrived in 8 – it was a really nice surprise when they arrived early! They are packaged beautifully, as you can see below:

IMG_3186

I love the packaging and the colours on the box allow you to easily see which lip kit is which. I was really impressed with the packaging of the actual products too – the lip liner reminds me of the style of Mac’s pro lip liners and the packaging of the liquid lipstick really stands out.

thumb_IMG_0420_1024thumb_IMG_0413_1024

Now for swatches! I am about to start my own YouTube channel and have got all my equipment ready to start filming, so I will be filming a video with swatches and a demonstration on the lips, too – if you guys would like to see any videos in particular, then please let me know! Below you can see both the liner and lipstick from Koko K and Dead of Knight swatched:

thumb_IMG_0426_1024thumb_IMG_0429_1024

Koko K is a beautiful pink shade – as I’m pretty fair, this is a really lovely mauve-pink shade on me and I can see it being a beautiful pale pink on those with darker skin tones. It’s so flattering and I can honestly see this shade working on everyone. Dead of Knight is amazing – a deep, pigmented black shade. The liner isn’t quite as dark as the liquid lipstick itself, but you can’t tell at all once the lipstick is on.

The liners glide on really easily, especially Koko K – they are very easy to apply and I love the formula. The liquid lipsticks are great too, a little drying as you would expect with mattes but they make the lips look really full and have amazing pigment. Dead of Knight is a little trickier to apply as darker shades need more precision, but overall the liquid lipsticks are easy to apply and look amazing.

I hope you enjoyed this review! Do you own any lip kits? Let me know which shades you recommend below!

Finding The Perfect Shoes?!

Hi everyone! I have recently been on the lookout for the perfect pair of shoes to take me through summer and into autumn. Now, I love wearing my adidas in the day and a pair of heels on a night out, but I wanted to find something that worked for interviews, work, evenings out and for day-to-day wear. I think I’ve found them!

thumb_IMG_0250_1024

These Topshop beauties are £29 each and for Topshop, that’s pretty affordable – especially for a pair of shoes that are going to work for most occasions. The small, block heels means they add height without being uncomfortable, the open toe and straps adds a summery touch and the silver detailing adds a smart edge.

thumb_IMG_0259_1024

The name of these shoes is ‘MEGHAN Block Heel Sandals’ and they come in two colours, black and a blush pink. I ended up getting both because of the fact that a black pair of shoes will look amazing with so many outfits and never go out of style, but the blush pink are so pretty and summery too. I really couldn’t choose between them and for the price, I decided to take the plunge!

thumb_IMG_0268_1024

I can already see myself styling the black pair with jeans, smart dresses and workwear, and the pink pair looking beautiful with a pastel dress. From attending an interview to a summer wedding, these shoes are perfect – they are stylish and comfy in one (I didn’t think that was possible before now!)

If you’re a Topshop lover like I am then be sure to grab them whilst you can!

Current Everyday Summer Makeup Routine! Glowing Skin + Matte Lips!

Hi everyone! Today I will be sharing with you my current everyday summer makeup. It’s really easy to recreate, with minimal eyes and lips and the main focus on glowing skin. I wear this on a day-to-day basis when I’m going to be out and about, as it’s relatively quick and easy! I always use a mixture of high end and drugstore/high street products and I’ve listed all the products used below. Let’s get started!

IMG_0146 (1)IMG_0181

Face

  • I primed my skin using Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow primer – this gives the skin a subtle glow and creates a smooth base for makeup
  • Foundation – I used L’oreal’s Lumi Magique Nude Cushion foundation in the shade ___. I love the L’oreal Lumi range, the products give the skin a dewy finish and feel very light on the skin, but still offer good coverage.
  • Concealer – To cover blemishes and highlight the under-eye area, I used Urban Decay’s Naked Skin concealer in ‘light warm’.
  • To set my concealer under the eyes, I used the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in ‘diffused light’. I also used L’oreal Nude Magique BB powder to set my T-zone.
  • Contour/bronzing and highlight – I started off with NYX cream contour and highlight stick as my base contour and highlight. This double-ended product is really creamy and easy to blend, giving a beautifully subtle contour and highlight.
  • I wanted to achieve a summery glow rather than a sculpted look, so blended over the top of my contour with Guerlain’s Terracotta bronzer in shade ’00 – blondes’ and used Mac’s ‘Soft & Gentle’ highlight over the NYX cream product, to set the highlight and amplify the glow. I applied Soft & Gentle with a fan brush to the cheekbones, nose and cupid’s bow.
  • For blush, I used Benefit’s Dandelion blush.

Eyes

  • Eyebrows: I used Mac’s brow definer in the shade ‘fling’ and set this with Soap & Glory’s Volu-Boost brow fibre gel.
  • Eyeshadow: for my transition shade, I used Guerlain’s Terracotta bronzer in the shade ’00 – blondes’ blended lightly into the crease, before picking up The Balm’s Nude’Tude palette. I blended Sultry into the outer crease and packed Stand-Offish all over the lid for a light shimmer. I also blended a mixture of the Guerlain bronzer and Nude’Tude Sultry underneath the eyes.
  • For mascara, I used L’oreal False Lash Telescopic in ‘Magnetic Black’ on the top and bottom lashes.

Lips

  • I lined my lips with Mac’s ‘Oh honey!’ lip liner and applied Mac’s ‘honeylove’ lipstick (my fave combo at the moment!)

Kiehl’s Skincare First Impressions!

Hi everyone! Lately I’ve not been seeing the best results from my skincare routine, so I’ve decided to change things up a bit. I have never tried the brand Kiehl’s before but heard amazing things about their skincare products, so I decided to give them a go.

I visited my nearest Kiehl’s store and the lady that worked there was so helpful. I told her my skin concerns (dryness and breakouts) and after testing my skin, she recommended me a couple of products.

thumb_IMG_0212_1024

The first product was their Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion, which was £16.50. I was informed that this is perfect for breakouts and only to apply to affected areas. To apply, you use a cotton pad and press the astringent over the skin.

I am seriously in love with this product so far – I’ve only used it once, but overnight I have already seen an incredible difference to my skin. Any breakouts have become less red and noticeably improved. It hasn’t completely gotten rid of my breakouts from one use – I don’t believe any product is is able to do that – however, I can’t believe I have seen this much of a difference already! I will definitely keep using this and let you guys know how it goes, but so far I’m very impressed with the results.

thumb_IMG_0207_1024

The moisturiser I was recommended was their Ultra Facial Cream – I’ve seen this before online and believe Kim K’s makeup artist uses this on her. Kim’s skin always looks flawless and hydrated, so I was very happy to give this a go! It feels very light on the skin and also really hydrating. Again, I’ve only used this once so far and I’m impressed with the results. I believe moisturisers take a little more time to see if they really work, but so far I’m loving this!

thumb_IMG_0198_1024

I also received a couple of free samples that I was really excited about. I got a sample of the Purifying Foaming Cleanser and the Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturising Serum Concentrate. I haven’t tried the cleanser yet, but I tried the serum last night and my skin felt very plumped and hydrated for a long time afterwards. My skin felt amazing after using this and I’m now seriously considering another trip to Kiehl’s!

thumb_IMG_0215_1024

With the combination of these products, I woke up seeing a real improvement to my skin and can’t wait to start using these regularly. Do you own any Kiehl’s products? Let me know your thoughts and recommendations below!

Luxury Soap From Covent Garden!

Hi everyone! If you live in or near London and the Covent Garden area, you may know of the Apple Market in Covent Garden – I have never visited myself but have heard they sell a lovely range of antiques, art, homeware and more. My mom visited there today and picked me up a box of soaps from one of their stalls, M Strand – thank you mom! I believe this is their website if anyone is interested, they sell a large variety of luxurious soaps and they are just beautiful!

I took some photographs to share in case any of you live near to Covent Garden and wanted to check them out yourselves. The box was prettily packaged with paper, ribbon and a tiny flower. I believe you can buy individual soaps too, but the box makes the perfect gift – the presentation is so lovely.

IMG_0035.jpg

The soaps inside are beautiful, too – they are decorated with tiny flowers and fruit slices and smell amazing. In the box were four different soaps. I have pictured them all together and also individually below:

IMG_0059

IMG_0053

IMG_0042IMG_0056IMG_0052

Aren’t they just beautiful? The packaging says to slice layers from the base, so you get quite a few uses out of each soap. They all smell lovely; the peppermint and orange are refreshing and the floral scented soaps are so luxurious. Although I haven’t used any of them yet, they are made with essential oils and the quality seems excellent. My favourite is definitely the ‘Rosegeranium’ soap because of all the tiny flowers – but I love citrus scents too, so the Orange soap is a close second. They are all wonderful!

If any of you guys are in London, I have heard amazing things about the Apple Market and these soaps show what lovely items you can buy! I will definitely taking a trip there myself  on my next visit.

May Favourites!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all really well. I’m very excited to say that I’m back and will be blogging much more again from now on! I’ve finished uni, so have more free time to spend improving my blog. I also have a brand new camera, so hopefully you will see an improvement in my photography, too!

Today I’ll be sharing with you my favourites from the month of May. There’s a few new beauty products that have firmly found their way into my everyday makeup bag, so I can’t wait to talk about those! Let’s get started.

IMG_0020

First up, i’ll be talking about a couple of incredible new products from Benefit; they are the Shy Beam highlighter and the Dew the Hoola liquid bronzer. Let’s just take a moment to admire the beautiful packaging on these two products! Shy Beam has a delicate, baby pink bottle and Dew the Hoola has bronze, bamboo-style packaging.

Now, most importantly, let’s talk about the products inside! Shy Beam is a matte, pale pink highlighter which gives the prettiest natural glow to the face. Although I prefer to wear this on my cheekbones, you could definitely mix it in with your foundation and i’ve even seen someone applying this underneath the eyes for a brightening effect. It gives a very subtle sheen to the skin and looks beautiful for everyday.

Dew the Hoola is a matte, liquid bronzer. I’d never tried liquid bronzer before and was really intrigued to try it out when I realised Benefit were releasing this. It’s beautiful! I use it for contouring or to simply bronze up the face – it has an incredibly subtle, natural finish that is perfect for your everyday makeup routine. I’ve found blending with a buffing brush gives the best results for this product and I’ve been using a Real Techniques buffing brush.

IMG_0025

Next, I’ve been loving another bronzing product, Guerlain’s Terracotta Bronzing Powder. On the image below this is showing up a more orange than in person – I’m still getting used to my new DSLR so please bear with me while I test out the settings! It is a very warm-toned bronzer and I love it applied with a large, fluffy brush to add a sun-kissed glow to the skin. It gives a warm, bronzed effect which looks lovely for summer. Some of you may be put off by the fact that it is a heavily scented powder, as those of you who have tried Guerlain before will know – most of their products have quite a heavy, perfumed scent. However, I personally don’t mind the scent and I’ve been loving this product!

IMG_0023

Dewy, glowing skin has been a huge trend this year and I’m seriously loving it – it’s the perfect trend for those of us with dry skin as dewy products are normally also pretty hydrating. I’ve been loving Benefit’s “that gal” primer, which I bought a miniature version of from Boots. Even though this is a tiny size, it’s lasted me for quite a while and I would go as far as saying this is my favourite primer ever.

It smooths and hydrates the skin, as well as giving a beautiful, natural glow when you apply it underneath your foundation. I will 100% be buying the full sized version of this once the miniature is empty, as I feel like this has made the biggest difference to my overall makeup. If you’re looking for a brightening primer, then definitely give this one a try!

IMG_0026

The next product I’m sure many of you will love, too – it’s the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer. I’m using the shade ‘light warm’ and this could be my new all-time favourite concealer. It gives great coverage and also really brightens the under-eyes. It feels really light on the skin too, which is great for summer. I considered purchasing this for a while and I’m so glad I did!

IMG_0029

I’ve also been loving the new Lancome Juicy Shakers and own the shade ‘Boom Meringue,’ which I believe is the lightest shade. A beautiful baby pink, the formula is really hydrating and gives high shine with a subtle wash of colour. I will be reaching for this all summer long!

IMG_0028

Finally, an old favourite – Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb. I found this perfume again when I moved out of my uni flat and have been reaching for it a lot this past month. It’s such a summery, floral scent and the bottle is beautiful. I have very little left of this so will possibly be making a repurchase soon!

IMG_0031

That’s everything for my favourites this month! I really hope you enjoyed reading, please let me know what you’ve been loving this month as I’m always looking out for new products to try!
