Kiehl’s Skincare First Impressions!

Hi everyone! Lately I’ve not been seeing the best results from my skincare routine, so I’ve decided to change things up a bit. I have never tried the brand Kiehl’s before but heard amazing things about their skincare products, so I decided to give them a go.

I visited my nearest Kiehl’s store and the lady that worked there was so helpful. I told her my skin concerns (dryness and breakouts) and after testing my skin, she recommended me a couple of products.

The first product was their Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion, which was £16.50. I was informed that this is perfect for breakouts and only to apply to affected areas. To apply, you use a cotton pad and press the astringent over the skin.

I am seriously in love with this product so far – I’ve only used it once, but overnight I have already seen an incredible difference to my skin. Any breakouts have become less red and noticeably improved. It hasn’t completely gotten rid of my breakouts from one use – I don’t believe any product is is able to do that – however, I can’t believe I have seen this much of a difference already! I will definitely keep using this and let you guys know how it goes, but so far I’m very impressed with the results.

The moisturiser I was recommended was their Ultra Facial Cream – I’ve seen this before online and believe Kim K’s makeup artist uses this on her. Kim’s skin always looks flawless and hydrated, so I was very happy to give this a go! It feels very light on the skin and also really hydrating. Again, I’ve only used this once so far and I’m impressed with the results. I believe moisturisers take a little more time to see if they really work, but so far I’m loving this!

I also received a couple of free samples that I was really excited about. I got a sample of the Purifying Foaming Cleanser and the Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturising Serum Concentrate. I haven’t tried the cleanser yet, but I tried the serum last night and my skin felt very plumped and hydrated for a long time afterwards. My skin felt amazing after using this and I’m now seriously considering another trip to Kiehl’s!

With the combination of these products, I woke up seeing a real improvement to my skin and can’t wait to start using these regularly. Do you own any Kiehl’s products? Let me know your thoughts and recommendations below!

Luxury Soap From Covent Garden!

Hi everyone! If you live in or near London and the Covent Garden area, you may know of the Apple Market in Covent Garden – I have never visited myself but have heard they sell a lovely range of antiques, art, homeware and more. My mom visited there today and picked me up a box of soaps from one of their stalls, M Strand – thank you mom! I believe this is their website if anyone is interested, they sell a large variety of luxurious soaps and they are just beautiful!

I took some photographs to share in case any of you live near to Covent Garden and wanted to check them out yourselves. The box was prettily packaged with paper, ribbon and a tiny flower. I believe you can buy individual soaps too, but the box makes the perfect gift – the presentation is so lovely.

The soaps inside are beautiful, too – they are decorated with tiny flowers and fruit slices and smell amazing. In the box were four different soaps. I have pictured them all together and also individually below:

Aren’t they just beautiful? The packaging says to slice layers from the base, so you get quite a few uses out of each soap. They all smell lovely; the peppermint and orange are refreshing and the floral scented soaps are so luxurious. Although I haven’t used any of them yet, they are made with essential oils and the quality seems excellent. My favourite is definitely the ‘Rosegeranium’ soap because of all the tiny flowers – but I love citrus scents too, so the Orange soap is a close second. They are all wonderful!

If any of you guys are in London, I have heard amazing things about the Apple Market and these soaps show what lovely items you can buy! I will definitely taking a trip there myself  on my next visit.

May Favourites!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all really well. I’m very excited to say that I’m back and will be blogging much more again from now on! I’ve finished uni, so have more free time to spend improving my blog. I also have a brand new camera, so hopefully you will see an improvement in my photography, too!

Today I’ll be sharing with you my favourites from the month of May. There’s a few new beauty products that have firmly found their way into my everyday makeup bag, so I can’t wait to talk about those! Let’s get started.

First up, i’ll be talking about a couple of incredible new products from Benefit; they are the Shy Beam highlighter and the Dew the Hoola liquid bronzer. Let’s just take a moment to admire the beautiful packaging on these two products! Shy Beam has a delicate, baby pink bottle and Dew the Hoola has bronze, bamboo-style packaging.

Now, most importantly, let’s talk about the products inside! Shy Beam is a matte, pale pink highlighter which gives the prettiest natural glow to the face. Although I prefer to wear this on my cheekbones, you could definitely mix it in with your foundation and i’ve even seen someone applying this underneath the eyes for a brightening effect. It gives a very subtle sheen to the skin and looks beautiful for everyday.

Dew the Hoola is a matte, liquid bronzer. I’d never tried liquid bronzer before and was really intrigued to try it out when I realised Benefit were releasing this. It’s beautiful! I use it for contouring or to simply bronze up the face – it has an incredibly subtle, natural finish that is perfect for your everyday makeup routine. I’ve found blending with a buffing brush gives the best results for this product and I’ve been using a Real Techniques buffing brush.

Next, I’ve been loving another bronzing product, Guerlain’s Terracotta Bronzing Powder. On the image below this is showing up a more orange than in person – I’m still getting used to my new DSLR so please bear with me while I test out the settings! It is a very warm-toned bronzer and I love it applied with a large, fluffy brush to add a sun-kissed glow to the skin. It gives a warm, bronzed effect which looks lovely for summer. Some of you may be put off by the fact that it is a heavily scented powder, as those of you who have tried Guerlain before will know – most of their products have quite a heavy, perfumed scent. However, I personally don’t mind the scent and I’ve been loving this product!

Dewy, glowing skin has been a huge trend this year and I’m seriously loving it – it’s the perfect trend for those of us with dry skin as dewy products are normally also pretty hydrating. I’ve been loving Benefit’s “that gal” primer, which I bought a miniature version of from Boots. Even though this is a tiny size, it’s lasted me for quite a while and I would go as far as saying this is my favourite primer ever.

It smooths and hydrates the skin, as well as giving a beautiful, natural glow when you apply it underneath your foundation. I will 100% be buying the full sized version of this once the miniature is empty, as I feel like this has made the biggest difference to my overall makeup. If you’re looking for a brightening primer, then definitely give this one a try!

The next product I’m sure many of you will love, too – it’s the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer. I’m using the shade ‘light warm’ and this could be my new all-time favourite concealer. It gives great coverage and also really brightens the under-eyes. It feels really light on the skin too, which is great for summer. I considered purchasing this for a while and I’m so glad I did!

I’ve also been loving the new Lancome Juicy Shakers and own the shade ‘Boom Meringue,’ which I believe is the lightest shade. A beautiful baby pink, the formula is really hydrating and gives high shine with a subtle wash of colour. I will be reaching for this all summer long!

Finally, an old favourite – Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb. I found this perfume again when I moved out of my uni flat and have been reaching for it a lot this past month. It’s such a summery, floral scent and the bottle is beautiful. I have very little left of this so will possibly be making a repurchase soon!

That’s everything for my favourites this month! I really hope you enjoyed reading, please let me know what you’ve been loving this month as I’m always looking out for new products to try!

Apologies + Giveaway Update

UPDATE: The winner for my giveaway was Molly from The Rose Beauty Files! Thanks so much everyone for entering!

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well. Firstly, I wanted to explain why I have been absent from my blog for the last couple of months – I have had some other commitments which have taken up a lot of my time and honestly, I feel like I haven’t had time to blog. I have missed it so much and can’t wait to get back into it now I have more time.

Secondly, I would like to apologise for the fact that I haven’t yet drawn a winner for my giveaway, which ended in January. With everything else this completely slipped my mind and of course, I still want to draw a winner and send them their prize of a Charlotte Tilbury limited edition ‘eyes to hypnotise’ set and a mac lipstick of their choice.

I really wanted to create this post to acknowledge everything that has been happening over the last couple of months, and to let everyone know that I will be drawing a winner today and emailing them to inform them of their win. I will also be sure to post on here who has won, so keep a look out for that!

Thanks so much for reading and I hope everyone understands. I can’t wait to get blogging again!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Review + Swatches!

Hi everyone! Today I’ll be reviewing the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit, which I received for Christmas. Quick side note before I begin – my Charlotte Tilbury and Mac giveaway ends soon, so click here to get your entry in! Now, onto the review! I was so excited to try out the Ambient Lighting Edit because I think it’s a great way of really getting into Hourglass as a brand. I do already own the Ambient Lighting Palette, which features three powders. One of these powders, Dim Light, is in the Edit too, but the other five I had never tried before. The packaging is lovely, really lightweight with a large mirror inside.

The Edit features six powders, including highlighters, blushes and a bronzer. I heard a lot of people complaining about how tiny the palette is and how the amount of product inside isn’t worth the money – to be honest, it is pretty small. However, it’s a great way of trying out lots of different powders by Hourglass, without having to spend a lot of money buying individual powders. Here in the UK, a full size single powder is £38, so £65 for six miniature versions is a great deal in my opinion. Also, I have owned the Ambient Lighting Palette with the three powders in for at least a year now and still have a lot of product left, so I don’t believe buying the full size powders are necessary if you want to try a few out at once.

The top row of powders (left to right) are Dim Light, a beige face powder which is perfect for setting foundation, Iridescent Strobe Light, a pale pink highlighter, and Diffused Light, a light yellow powder which I love using under the eyes to set concealer. I love all of these powders, however would recommend applying Iridescent Strobe Light with a wet brush if you like a slightly more intense highlight. It is very natural and pretty, but I do like that extra intensity when applied with a wet brush. My favourite of the three has to be Diffused Light – I have spent so long looking for a perfect under-eye setting powder and have finally found it! Here are the swatches of the top row:

The bottom row contains two blushes and a bronzer: Mood Exposure, a shimmery plum blush, Luminous Flush, a beautiful rose pink blush, and Luminous Bronze Light, a  warm bronzer. All three of these powders a pretty shimmery, but this isn’t very noticeable once they are on the face and you get a more luminous finish. I am not a huge fan of bronzer as I’m always afraid it will look muddy, so i don’t often purchase it. However, I have fallen in love with the bronzer in this palette. I use it to warm up the face and it is stunning! So natural and gives the face a really healthy glow. The two blushes are amazing too and I’ve been using  Luminous Flush almost every day!

I definitely feel this palette is worth buying if you want to try out lots of different powders from Hourglass. The price is pretty steep for a tiny palette, however for six different powders it would cost you a lot more to buy them individually as full sizes. My brushes fit perfectly into each shade so I don’t struggle applying product at all and I have found the perfect under-eye powder and bronzer! These powders are soft, blend easily and look stunning.

I hope you enjoyed reading! Let me know if you own any Hourglass powders – do they live up to the hype for you? They do for me!

TheBalm Nude’tude Palette Review + Swatches!

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all well and enjoying the beginning of 2016. How fast does the time go?! Today I’ll be reviewing TheBalm’s Nude’tude palette, which I received for Christmas. I’ve had my eye on this palette for such a long time and wasn’t sure whether to ask for this one or the Nude’Dude palette, but after seeing them both in store I slightly preferred the shades in the Nude’tude palette. Let’s get into the review and swatches!

To begin, the packaging is really fun! It is made of a sturdy cardboard and also comes with a sleeve that holds the palette closed for travelling. Once you remove the sleeve, the palette has a magnetic closure.

Opening the palette, there is a lovely large mirror which makes this palette really useful for travelling. There are 12 shades inside and I love the vintage-style packaging! The palette also comes with a double-ended brush, which is really useful – one end applies shadow all over the lid and the other, smaller end allows you to apply the shadow as liner.

Onto the swatches!! I have swatched these in groups of four, so you get a more clear view of each shade. All of the shadows have fun, creative names which I have labelled. 4 of the shades are matte and the other 8 are glitter or what I would call ‘velvet’ – they aren’t glittery exactly, but have a shimmer to them.

  • Sassy is a bright, shimmery white
  • Snobby is a shimmering pale gold
  • Stubborn is a velvety rose pink
  • Stand-offish is a shimmery pale pink

  • Selfish is a shimmery taupe shade
  • Sophisticated is a glittery, deep brown
  • Sultry is a matte taupe shade – perfect for the crease
  • Seductive is a shimmery bronze

  • Sexy is a stunning, matte wine red
  • Serious is a deep, matte black
  • Silly is a glittery brown shade – this one has less pigment than the others, but is still beautiful as a wash of glitter
  • Sleek is a matte, very deep brown/aubergine shade

I’m very impressed with these overall! My favourites have to be Stand-Offish, Sultry and Sexy. When I first opened the palette, I thought Sassy and Snobby (the two far-left shades)  were matte and I do think this palette could have one or two more matte shades, as I love using them in the crease! Also, the shade Silly (as I mentioned previously) has less pigment than the others and doesn’t show as well when swatched. However, I definitely think this could be brushed over other shadows to amp them up or even just for a light wash of colour. Other than this shade, the others have amazing pigmentation.

The shadows feel very soft, blend really nicely and I love the variety of colours – you can create various different looks with these, from girly and fresh to deep and vampy. I am very impressed by this palette overall and if you’re looking to increase your shadow collection, I think this would be a great way of doing so! I will definitely get a makeup tutorial completed with these and post this soon, for a real demonstration of how they look on the eyes.

I hope you enjoyed reading – let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to review next!

What I got for Christmas 2015! (Beauty)

Hi everyone! Today I’ll be sharing with you what I got for Christmas this year focusing mostly on the beauty products I received, to tie in with the theme of my blog! I love seeing what other people got for Christmas as I think it’s a great way of getting ideas for upcoming birthdays or gifts for others – it could even be inspiration for what to next treat yourself with! I did ask for a few of these and received some as a surprise, and I am so grateful for all of them. I’ll talk you through them as we go, so let’s get started!

First up I got a lovely Clinique set. I did ask for my favourite moisturiser, the Clinique moisture surge, but wasn’t expecting to get this set at all! The set contains the moisturiser, an overnight mask, an eye cream and a chubby stick lip balm in the shade ‘baby tint’. I have tried the overnight mask before, which I love, and I have been so impressed with the eye cream so far! The lip balm is so pretty too and gives a wash of pink to the lips. This is such a great set and the products go beautifully together, so I will be sure to get a lot of use out of these!

I also got a mini version of the Too Faced ‘better than sex’ mascara. I’ve tried this a couple of times so far and love the effect it gives. It makes the lashes very fluttery and curled, almost as though I’m wearing false lashes! It looks great on the bottom lashes too, to really open up the eyes.

Next, I received an amazing limited edition Beauty Blender set. Some of you may already know that I love my Beauty Blender and have gotten through a couple; they work for so many different products and blend everything beautifully. The set contains one standard Beauty Blender, one micro Beauty Blender (perfect for the under-eye area), one pro Beauty Blender and one ‘rea.activate’ solution for dampening your Beauty Blenders on the go. I have never tried the pro Beauty Blender before but the packaging states it is best used for long-wearing makeup or facial tanners, so I can’t wait to give it a go! This is an amazing little set, perfect for a beginner or someone who already uses and loves Beauty Blenders.

I also received ‘Glow’ by Samantha Faiers, which is a gradual tanning moisturiser. I haven’t tried this yet or even heard about it, but I love to tan and Sam looks beautiful on the box, so I can’t wait to give it a go!

I’m sure all you beauty lovers will have heard of the Ambient Lighting Edit and I was so excited to try this out! I already own the Ambient Lighting Palette which contains three powders, one of which is in this palette too (‘dim light’, the top left powder). I love the powders I already own and really wanted to try the pale yellow powder in the Edit, as well as the blushes and bronzer as I have never tried those. So far, I have already used some of these and am so impressed, the quality of the powders is amazing and so soft. I will definitely be writing a full review of these so keep an eye our for that soon!

I also received a beautiful YSL lipstick in the shade ‘Beige Tribute’, which is shade 10. The YSL lipsticks are one of my favourite lipstick formulas and I know I will get so much use out of this!

Another palette I received was the ‘Nude’tude’ palette by theBalm. I was torn between this one and the ‘Nude’dude’ palette, but once I had seen them both in store I preferred the shades in this one. Again, I will be doing a full review of these soon and have only tried a couple so far,  but I have really liked the ones I have tried – the shades are so stunning!

Finally, I received the perfume ‘My Burberry’ by Burberry, in the limited edition Christmas bottle, which is just beautiful! The bottle is filled with gold glitter, like a snow globe. The scent of this is amazing too; it’s feminine, but not a young scent at all – it’s stunning!

That’s everything, thanks so much for reading! I am so grateful for all of my presents and hope that everyone had a lovely Christmas, or if you don’t celebrate it then I hope you had a lovely day! Let me know what you got for Christmas!
