Kylie Lip Kits First Impressions + Swatches! Koko K & Dead of Knight!

Hi everyone! As I’m sure you will all know, Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kits have been taking the world by storm the last few months and after debating whether to purchase some of my own, I finally went for it!

Firstly, a little bit about shipping and  customs – feel free to skip this paragraph if you just want to hear about the products themselves! Being in the UK, I was aware of potential customs fees which is why I took a while to decide whether I wanted to buy the lip kits, as although they are fairly affordable on their own, it can end up being pretty expensive with customs and shipping added on top. However, I ended up being really lucky and not getting any customs charges on top of the $14.95 shipping fee I paid! I have heard some orders end up being charged by customs and some do not, so this is something to just be aware of when ordering if you are outside of the US.

Anyway, onto the exciting part – the actual lip kits! I went for two shades – Koko K and the brand new shade Dead of Knight. The lip kits are $29 each which is around £21 – I think this is a pretty good price for a lipstick and a lip liner. My confirmation email said to expect a delivery within 10-15 business days and mine arrived in 8 – it was a really nice surprise when they arrived early! They are packaged beautifully, as you can see below:

I love the packaging and the colours on the box allow you to easily see which lip kit is which. I was really impressed with the packaging of the actual products too – the lip liner reminds me of the style of Mac’s pro lip liners and the packaging of the liquid lipstick really stands out.

Now for swatches! I am about to start my own YouTube channel and have got all my equipment ready to start filming, so I will be filming a video with swatches and a demonstration on the lips, too – if you guys would like to see any videos in particular, then please let me know! Below you can see both the liner and lipstick from Koko K and Dead of Knight swatched:

Koko K is a beautiful pink shade – as I’m pretty fair, this is a really lovely mauve-pink shade on me and I can see it being a beautiful pale pink on those with darker skin tones. It’s so flattering and I can honestly see this shade working on everyone. Dead of Knight is amazing – a deep, pigmented black shade. The liner isn’t quite as dark as the liquid lipstick itself, but you can’t tell at all once the lipstick is on.

The liners glide on really easily, especially Koko K – they are very easy to apply and I love the formula. The liquid lipsticks are great too, a little drying as you would expect with mattes but they make the lips look really full and have amazing pigment. Dead of Knight is a little trickier to apply as darker shades need more precision, but overall the liquid lipsticks are easy to apply and look amazing.

I hope you enjoyed this review! Do you own any lip kits? Let me know which shades you recommend below!

Kiehl’s Skincare First Impressions!

Hi everyone! Lately I’ve not been seeing the best results from my skincare routine, so I’ve decided to change things up a bit. I have never tried the brand Kiehl’s before but heard amazing things about their skincare products, so I decided to give them a go.

I visited my nearest Kiehl’s store and the lady that worked there was so helpful. I told her my skin concerns (dryness and breakouts) and after testing my skin, she recommended me a couple of products.

thumb_IMG_0212_1024

The first product was their Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion, which was £16.50. I was informed that this is perfect for breakouts and only to apply to affected areas. To apply, you use a cotton pad and press the astringent over the skin.

I am seriously in love with this product so far – I’ve only used it once, but overnight I have already seen an incredible difference to my skin. Any breakouts have become less red and noticeably improved. It hasn’t completely gotten rid of my breakouts from one use – I don’t believe any product is is able to do that – however, I can’t believe I have seen this much of a difference already! I will definitely keep using this and let you guys know how it goes, but so far I’m very impressed with the results.

thumb_IMG_0207_1024

The moisturiser I was recommended was their Ultra Facial Cream – I’ve seen this before online and believe Kim K’s makeup artist uses this on her. Kim’s skin always looks flawless and hydrated, so I was very happy to give this a go! It feels very light on the skin and also really hydrating. Again, I’ve only used this once so far and I’m impressed with the results. I believe moisturisers take a little more time to see if they really work, but so far I’m loving this!

thumb_IMG_0198_1024

I also received a couple of free samples that I was really excited about. I got a sample of the Purifying Foaming Cleanser and the Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturising Serum Concentrate. I haven’t tried the cleanser yet, but I tried the serum last night and my skin felt very plumped and hydrated for a long time afterwards. My skin felt amazing after using this and I’m now seriously considering another trip to Kiehl’s!

With the combination of these products, I woke up seeing a real improvement to my skin and can’t wait to start using these regularly. Do you own any Kiehl’s products? Let me know your thoughts and recommendations below!

What I got for Christmas 2015! (Beauty)

Hi everyone! Today I’ll be sharing with you what I got for Christmas this year focusing mostly on the beauty products I received, to tie in with the theme of my blog! I love seeing what other people got for Christmas as I think it’s a great way of getting ideas for upcoming birthdays or gifts for others – it could even be inspiration for what to next treat yourself with! I did ask for a few of these and received some as a surprise, and I am so grateful for all of them. I’ll talk you through them as we go, so let’s get started!

image

First up I got a lovely Clinique set. I did ask for my favourite moisturiser, the Clinique moisture surge, but wasn’t expecting to get this set at all! The set contains the moisturiser, an overnight mask, an eye cream and a chubby stick lip balm in the shade ‘baby tint’. I have tried the overnight mask before, which I love, and I have been so impressed with the eye cream so far! The lip balm is so pretty too and gives a wash of pink to the lips. This is such a great set and the products go beautifully together, so I will be sure to get a lot of use out of these!

image

I also got a mini version of the Too Faced ‘better than sex’ mascara. I’ve tried this a couple of times so far and love the effect it gives. It makes the lashes very fluttery and curled, almost as though I’m wearing false lashes! It looks great on the bottom lashes too, to really open up the eyes.

image

Next, I received an amazing limited edition Beauty Blender set. Some of you may already know that I love my Beauty Blender and have gotten through a couple; they work for so many different products and blend everything beautifully. The set contains one standard Beauty Blender, one micro Beauty Blender (perfect for the under-eye area), one pro Beauty Blender and one ‘rea.activate’ solution for dampening your Beauty Blenders on the go. I have never tried the pro Beauty Blender before but the packaging states it is best used for long-wearing makeup or facial tanners, so I can’t wait to give it a go! This is an amazing little set, perfect for a beginner or someone who already uses and loves Beauty Blenders.

image

I also received ‘Glow’ by Samantha Faiers, which is a gradual tanning moisturiser. I haven’t tried this yet or even heard about it, but I love to tan and Sam looks beautiful on the box, so I can’t wait to give it a go!

image

I’m sure all you beauty lovers will have heard of the Ambient Lighting Edit and I was so excited to try this out! I already own the Ambient Lighting Palette which contains three powders, one of which is in this palette too (‘dim light’, the top left powder). I love the powders I already own and really wanted to try the pale yellow powder in the Edit, as well as the blushes and bronzer as I have never tried those. So far, I have already used some of these and am so impressed, the quality of the powders is amazing and so soft. I will definitely be writing a full review of these so keep an eye our for that soon!

image

I also received a beautiful YSL lipstick in the shade ‘Beige Tribute’, which is shade 10. The YSL lipsticks are one of my favourite lipstick formulas and I know I will get so much use out of this!

Another palette I received was the ‘Nude’tude’ palette by theBalm. I was torn between this one and the ‘Nude’dude’ palette, but once I had seen them both in store I preferred the shades in this one. Again, I will be doing a full review of these soon and have only tried a couple so far,  but I have really liked the ones I have tried – the shades are so stunning!

image

Finally, I received the perfume ‘My Burberry’ by Burberry, in the limited edition Christmas bottle, which is just beautiful! The bottle is filled with gold glitter, like a snow globe. The scent of this is amazing too; it’s feminine, but not a young scent at all – it’s stunning!

That’s everything, thanks so much for reading! I am so grateful for all of my presents and hope that everyone had a lovely Christmas, or if you don’t celebrate it then I hope you had a lovely day! Let me know what you got for Christmas!

Boots/Drugstore Haul!

Hello! Today I’ve got another haul for you guys and this time it’s a Boots/drugstore haul! I bought a couple of old favourites and also a few new things to try, which is really exciting! I’m going to talk you through everything I purchased, so let’s get started!

image

First up is an old favourite, the Soap & Glory Flake Away body exfoliator. If you use fake tan or are just looking for a scrub that leaves your skin amazingly smooth , then you need this in your life! It’s by far the best exfoliator I’ve ever used and I’m always repurchasing.

image

I tend to find fake tan difficult to remove from my skin and I use this along with the Soap & Glory exfoliating mitt – the combination works so well. It’s quite a thick scrub, so the tub doesn’t last too long, but it’s so worth it.

image

Next up is a new product for me, although I’m a little late on the bandwagon (ok, very late). It’s the Garnier Micellar cleansing water and this huge bottle is currently on offer at Boots for £3!

image

I’ve already used it once and I’m loving it so far. It left my face feeling so smooth and clean, easily removing every trace of makeup. To use the Micellar water, I made a repurchase of the Boots cotton wool pads, which are double sided and amazing quality. You can also use them with nail varnish remover, too.

image

Next up is the new Kate Moss Rimmel Nude lipstick, in the shade 42. This is a beautiful peachy nude that has a slight sheen – it also has a slightly sweet scent, but that doesn’t bother me at all.

image

image

I’ve already worn this a couple of times and I love it. The shade, the formula, the staying power – it’s hard to fault, especially for the price! Here’s a quick swatch:

image

Finally, and possibly my favourite purchase, is the Seventeen Instant Glow shimmer brick in the shade gold shimmer. This caught my eye today and really reminded me of the Bobbi Brown shimmer bricks, which are pretty pricey and also amazing. This was only £4.99, so I had to give it a try. There are four different shimmery shades, which can be used separately as eyeshadows and highlighters, or altogether to give an overall glow.

image

As I’m a little bit tanned from my trip to Barcelona, I really wanted to give this a try to enhance my tan and I’m hoping it will give a beautiful glow to the skin. There’s also a pink shade, which I’ll definitely be picking up if I’m impressed with this. Here’s the shades altogether, swatched quite heavily:

image

I imagine that the pay-off won’t be anywhere near as intense on my face as my swatch, as picking the product up with a large, fluffy brush should distribute it better over the skin. I also swatched each shade alone to show you how they could look as eyeshadows or highlighters:

image

They look so beautiful! I particularly love the second lightest shade, which I believe will look amazing as a highlight.

That’s everything! I hope you enjoyed reading – let me know what I should pick up next!

Mini Sephora Haul!

Hello everyone! First of all I want to apologise for being a bit absent recently – I’m on holiday in Barcelona! Since being here, I’ve been absolutely loving it. It’s so beautiful, I love the heat and the shops are great too! I obviously had to make a stop in Sephora on my first day, so I thought I’d share with you the few things that I got.

Many of you will already know that we don’t have Sephora in the UK (seriously, why?), so I wanted to make sure I purchased some items I can’t get at home. The Sephora I visited was fairly small, but I still managed to find some things of course! Once I’m in a makeup store, I’m like James Bond on a mission – determined to get the good stuff.

image

First up, I decided to go for a couple of Sephora’s own-brand products, as I can’t get these at home and I’ve heard great reviews on their face masks and brushes. I went for the Rose mask, which is described as “ultra moisturising and brightening”, as well as their green tea eye mask, which claims to be “anti-crumple and refreshing”. I’m not too sure what anti-crumple is supposed to mean, but for the eye area it sounds good to me! I haven’t tried these yet, but I can’t wait to give them a go.

I also picked up Sephora’s pro-blending brush, which looked really soft and fluffy on display. I love the fact that the brushes come with a travel-friendly case to cover the bristles, it’s so useful especially as I’m on holiday!

image image

Finally, I went for a Marc Jacobs product – these are very difficult to find at home, so I decided to get something while I can! I chose the ‘twinkle pop eye stick’ in the shade 402, Volver. The box describes the product perfectly: “Instant dazzle. Cool colour. Portable luxury.” Volver is a beautiful, subtle and shimmering gold shade.

image

It’s perfect for summer holidays, when it’s hot out but you still want to wear makeup – it’s light, easy to use and doesn’t budge once it’s on. This shade in particular is even great for the beach if you’re someone who still likes to wear a little makeup, as it isn’t too noticeable – just gives the eyes a subtle, pretty wash of gold.

That’s everything! My next post is an exciting Korean cosmetics haul, which will be up in a couple of days – so many cute products! I hope you enjoyed reading!

Topshop Beauty Haul & Review!

Hi everyone! I popped into Topshop recently and found myself at the beauty counter (what a surprise!) I couldn’t resist purchasing a few things that caught my eye and I thought I’d try them out a few times so I could review them.

image

The first thing I picked up was the lip and cheek smudge in ‘Always on Time’, which I thought looked really interesting. The shade is a lovely, subtle peach shade and has two sides, one which holds the product and the other which holds a brush.

image

I think the brush is supposed to be used to blend the product on the lips. I did try it for my cheeks, but it just wastes time when you could easily blend the product with your fingers or a sponge. I really love this on the cheeks – it leaves a gorgeous, soft peachy tint and blends amazingly. Unfortunately, I really don’t like it on the lips! The shade comes off far too pale for me and I don’t feel it blends as well – it becomes a little drying, too. However, I really feel it is still worth it as just a cheek product as it looks so pretty. I’ve been applying it just above where I would contour, drawing a fairly sharp line and then small lines above it, before blending it all in with my fingers. This allows the product to blend evenly and the sharper line at the bottom gives more definition to the apples of the cheeks. Here’s how I apply it and how it looks once it’s blended in:

image

image

I just love it! Next, I picked up the cream eyeshadow in the shade ‘Stripped’ and the powder shadow in the shade ‘Shangri-La’. Stripped is a lovely, creamy pink shade, which I’ve been wearing all over the lid and blended out with a couple of light brown shades –  it’s a simple look, but looks great for looking put-together in the daytime. I have worn it at night too, just adding some black liner for more drama. Here it is (you can see a swatch a little further down):

image

Shangri-La is a beautiful shimmery brown shade – it’s so much more pigmented than I thought it would be and just so beautiful! Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of the packaging as I forgot to take one and am now on holiday, so don’t have it to hand (argh!) However, you can find a picture on Topshop’s website. I do have swatches though, so here are ‘Stripped’ and ‘Shangri-La’ swatched side-by-side:

image

Finally, I purchased the Deep Down Detox Ultra-Cleansing Mud Mask. It contains orange and bergamot and I haven’t tried it just yet, but I do love a face mask so hopefully this is a good one!!

Thanks for reading! Let me know your faves from Topshop’s beauty range!

Mini Boots Haul and First Impressions!

Hey guys! I popped into Boots the other day and picked a few things up on the spur of the moment – kind of unlike me, I mostly buy makeup that I have researched beforehand, so I know I’m less likely to be disappointed! I only picked up three things but have decided to do a first impressions post for you guys, as I have really mixed reviews on all three!

I have recently ran out of my favourite lip liner, which is Topshop’s liner in ‘Ceramic’, but I fancied trying something new. So, I picked up Rimmel’s Exaggerate lip liner in the shade ‘Eastend Snob’ (great name). It’s a little different to your typical lip liner and has a slanted edge, which allows you to draw an extremely precise line or use the flat edge and fill in your lips entirely. I love that about this liner and have shown you below how you can create both lines, depending on which edge you use.

So, upon trying this liner for the first time, I’m really impressed! It only costs £3.99 which is so affordable and it makes my lips look defined and full, which I love. I prefer creating a thin line with the edge of the liner as it looks amazingly neat and defined. The colour is lovely too – a beautiful nude pink, a “your lips but better” shade.

image image

Next, I picked up the new L’oreal Infallible Mega Gloss in the shade ‘More of Bora Bora’. I just loved the shade of this one – it’s a hot pink, but sheer so it’s not too full-on. It smells amazing, too!

image

The applicator is great for me – it doesn’t pick up much product, so just leaves a wash of shine. It doesn’t really live up to it’s name of Mega Gloss as it is quite subtle, but I prefer this – I’m not a huge fan of super glossy lips!

image image

Finally, my disappointing purchase of the day was the L’oreal Gel Effect nail duo in ‘Fight for Orange’. I love the look of gel nails and thought it would be great to achieve this at home instead of in a salon.

Unfortunately, I don’t like step 1 of the duo – the nail polish seems pretty thick to me which and I’d much rather apply a few thin layers, so it goes on more smoothly. Step two is good – it does seem to give the nails a high shine, but it’s pretty pointless without step 1. I’ve only tried this product once so maybe I will grow to like it, but my first impression was disappointing.

That’s everything! I hope you enjoyed reading – let me know if there’s anything you’ve picked up recently that you’ve been loving!
