Mini Boots Haul and First Impressions!

Hey guys! I popped into Boots the other day and picked a few things up on the spur of the moment – kind of unlike me, I mostly buy makeup that I have researched beforehand, so I know I’m less likely to be disappointed! I only picked up three things but have decided to do a first impressions post for you guys, as I have really mixed reviews on all three!

I have recently ran out of my favourite lip liner, which is Topshop’s liner in ‘Ceramic’, but I fancied trying something new. So, I picked up Rimmel’s Exaggerate lip liner in the shade ‘Eastend Snob’ (great name). It’s a little different to your typical lip liner and has a slanted edge, which allows you to draw an extremely precise line or use the flat edge and fill in your lips entirely. I love that about this liner and have shown you below how you can create both lines, depending on which edge you use.

So, upon trying this liner for the first time, I’m really impressed! It only costs £3.99 which is so affordable and it makes my lips look defined and full, which I love. I prefer creating a thin line with the edge of the liner as it looks amazingly neat and defined. The colour is lovely too – a beautiful nude pink, a “your lips but better” shade.

Next, I picked up the new L’oreal Infallible Mega Gloss in the shade ‘More of Bora Bora’. I just loved the shade of this one – it’s a hot pink, but sheer so it’s not too full-on. It smells amazing, too!

The applicator is great for me – it doesn’t pick up much product, so just leaves a wash of shine. It doesn’t really live up to it’s name of Mega Gloss as it is quite subtle, but I prefer this – I’m not a huge fan of super glossy lips!

Finally, my disappointing purchase of the day was the L’oreal Gel Effect nail duo in ‘Fight for Orange’. I love the look of gel nails and thought it would be great to achieve this at home instead of in a salon.

Unfortunately, I don’t like step 1 of the duo – the nail polish seems pretty thick to me which and I’d much rather apply a few thin layers, so it goes on more smoothly. Step two is good – it does seem to give the nails a high shine, but it’s pretty pointless without step 1. I’ve only tried this product once so maybe I will grow to like it, but my first impression was disappointing.

That’s everything! I hope you enjoyed reading – let me know if there’s anything you’ve picked up recently that you’ve been loving!
